Video Review: Arcade Time~

Never Give Up Ever!!! Not Going Home Till I Get the Prize!

Always see this title for UFO catcher channels? Well, its true that this is a challenge that we can never forgo! Haha!

Let's start the review for this video!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Initial Thoughts

I have been looking out for the CHAX GP Series and it consists of Gloomy Bear, All Purpose Rabbit and many others. I was saving up to get it! There are some things I want to clarify before I start my analysis.

IF!  You ever want to get it no matter what, always consider if the overall amount spent is over the amount spent for the number of tries that they set before they are willing to give you the prize.

IF! You think that the amount you would be spending is more than that, don't hesitate to ask the store helpers to start count.

EVEN IF! You didn't expect it to go over the budget, just ask the store helpers to start counting for you. It will never hurt you to make sure when you want the prize badly.

Okies! Let's Start the Analysis!

The toy acting as the prize is the same one that I have at home. There is only one place where I would try to aim for and that is between the arms that is holding onto the log. Using a 3-Claw UFO Catcher makes it a little harder but ironically even if it spins, you will have a high chance of landing a claw in as compared to a 2-Claw which I played with when I was in Akihabara. (Oh by the way, it took me more that 24 times to get it in Akihabara too!)

In this case, the initial position of the toy is placed centrally and it is still considered a little close to the front glass. I had to try aim for the back for it to be flipped forward first before I could try to hook it or slowly shift it.  However, once I managed to flip it forward, I accidentally topple it towards the front glass or way back towards the display prizes. This made it even harder as the claw doesn't reach certain areas and had to be swung back and forth. ( The claw is stopped from swinging side to side)

Additionally, the toy is most heaviest its log and head. Hardly, ever possible to get it in one try but with luck... Why not right?!

I had quite a lot of resets to change the position of the toy and ended up forgetting to review what had happened and think on the spot on how to get the toy.

Well, this post is long and it might take me a few days more to upload fully. Please pardon the tardiness.

Review:

Mistakes made:

  • Pushing it down in the wrong direction, leading to a back throw instead of a front throw.

  • Aiming too far back to the point where the claw stabs the display prizes and doesn't go down to the prize in front.
Hopefully, but nope!

  • Continuously aiming for the body when I already know that it is too heavy to be lifted and the claw strength is weak.

  • Making a grave mistake by letting it fall to the front glass

  • (Important!) Not calling for assistant to start the counter on the machine.
As said above, it is really important when you want to save that extra cash on you instead of spending it all. But still most importantly, it is for you to have fun!

  • Ask the store if they have the stock for the toy that you want to get.
Initially, I wanted the Gloomy bear but it was out of stock! I had to get the other version which is the All-Purpose Rabbit but it was fine~ They are both so cute and it was the 2017 Spring Edition! I really like how the creators have incorporated the vintage floral patterns into their design for this Spring Edition instead of adding on a prop to the characters.

What should I have done?

  1.  When in doubt, review the video that was taken over again. It is always different when you are in the player's perspective compared to a spectator.
  2. Observe other players when there an opportunity to know how the claw works.

How much did it cost in total?

Given all the above mistakes, it sure cost me a bomb ($58.60*) but it was worth it! The prize that I ended up getting wasn't because I had hit the counter value but by a good aim above and an incidental luck when the claw to turn to the correct spot to be slotted between the arm and the log.

It was then stuck on the claw which required one more play for me to get it down.

*Inclusive of the $6.50 to get the prize that I wanted

Wait! Why can't we just ask the store helpers to get the toy for us?

How? The rules stated that the toy will be considered won when it is dropped fully into the chute. SO~ Tough luck! ( = x = )||| I was actually afraid that when the claw open, the toy will fall out and bounce back again...

THANKFULLY! It didn't and managed to slide off the claw in the next try.  I wasn't able to get it filmed on video as my phone battery was at 0%. ( Next time, it will be connected to the power bank in case it stops while filming. )
